Reading fantasy books

Why are most people still afraid to read fantasy and science fiction books?

Clearly this is a huge debate, but let me try to explain somethings from my perspective.

Most people are so comfortable in their own "matrix " of reality and they refuse to take a leap out of it. It may stigmatize them or create new equations of exploration to their thinking. Some of them are just too tired to think. Som others are afraid or even terrified to challenge reality as it was given to them.

But let me engage this topic especially for those who are thinking of reading fantasy or science fiction and try it out.

From my experience, people who try it, even once, are mostly people who question everything and have a feeling "outta here " and the realms of beyond. So, one way or another, they will get their hands on such a book. Their moto is usually "I had enough of reality "... that is one of the reasons we read fantasy books. Other reasons are far more complicated and debatable. It has to do with the inner exploration, leading to past lives, time or dimensional travelling etc. A significant number of people still have memories from past lives, making them "hungry " for research and learning on various topics.

But let me put this issue aside and see more into the benefits of reading especially fantasy and science fiction books.

These two genres broaden your horizons. That kind of reading gives you more perspectives than plain reality. Some of us feel more comfortable and familiar to these fictional worlds such as The Middle Earth or Narnia for example. As R.L. Lafevers successfully states, "fantasy feeds our sense of wonder " and I would add , our sense of humor as well, since most fantasy novels have beautiful humorous scenes and dialogues. The benefit of reading fantasy and science fiction, is extremely high for children. It stimulates their creativity and enhances their vocabulary. It also improves their memory skills.

Doctor Gwen Dewar significantly states that studies show, reading fantasy is not a waste of time especially for children. Most children can easily identify fantasy from reality, so there's no danger of being confused as most people believe.

The modern man, is used to a way of life in which he or she HAS to be occupied with something all the time. The most common way is to hold their cell phones all day, trying to find beautiful and weird images to escape their problems and worries. We all know how this affects our brain. Conversely, a fantasy novel gives you all the benefits you seek, plus so much more as creative thinking, distraction from reality, enriched vocabulary, relaxed time... the catalog is endless!

I would gladly discuss with you, any thoughts you might have on this topic.

In any way. .. I have to admit, that I'm a huge fan of fantasy novels as well as science fiction, plus I also write fantasy!

Have a fantastic day everyone and thank you for reading 🙃

imagination just one word and yet so big and beautiful. I believe that reality can not exist without imagination, as well as the opposite, I personally prefer fantasy books. Unfortunately we live in the age of the image, man now, in addition to reading, also wants to see images. reading a fantasy book or science fiction never hurt anyone and let's leave our children on a fantastic reading journey, after all that 's how we grew up ..... we got nothing 😊 Joy continue what you are doing and I wish you every success and happiness ❤
